My name is Karen Rochat and my husband Mike and I own and operate Stormcloud Samoyeds. We have been immersed in this wonderful breed for over 30 years, and have bred many champions and even better all-around dogs and family members. Even though we are now retired, taking care of the dogs, going to occasional dog shows and keeping up with normal day-to-day dog maintenance doesn’t leave much time for other things.
Stormcloud Samoyeds is located in the state of Washington. We have ten acres on top of hill a few miles north of Vancouver. It is very pretty and quiet here and an ideal place for our kennel. Some of our property is still wooded and some has been cleared. Mike, being a jogger, uses the cleared area for running and is usually accompanied by some of our dogs.
We have found, over the years, that Samoyeds are very good-natured and wonderful companions. They make ideal pets for
families with children or other pets.
One thing about Samoyeds, is the fact that they love to dig and do such a good job of it too. They dig holes big enough for them to get into, so it is a job to keep them all filled in and to also keep the dogs beautiful white fluffy coat clean after all the digging takes place.
We have a very nice Samoyed family. Most are adult dogs. Our last litter we had, Vickie came from, was born August 12, 2011. When the puppies were first born, some said they looked like little pigs. That may be true, but in no time, they are looking like little fluffy stuffed toys. I can honestly say that there are no cuter puppies than Samoyed puppies!
